Viewbank Tennis Club update - COVID-19

25 Mar 2020 by Rob Malignaggi

Dear members

The Victorian Government has shut down or restricted non-essential activity across our state to help combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Last night, STAGE 2 restrictions were announced which come into effect as of midnight tonight.

Banyule Council is requesting that all clubs abide by this and in doing so there will be NO access to Council sporting club facilities including:
- Club gyms
- Changerooms
- Meeting rooms
- Social rooms
- Any form of training on Council reserves
- Social or competition tennis
- Social or competition bowls

Banyule City Council have acknowledged that Sporting clubs play a huge part in the wellbeing of the community and they understand that this a very difficult time for all sporting club committees, volunteers, players, members and supporters.

The club committee regret that we will closing down the club facilities until further notice. We also understand the importance of sport and tennis for health and fitness, but we unfortunately have to follow the advice and request of Council.

All decisions made so far by the club have been in the best interest of the health for our great/loyal members and the community abroad.

As soon as things return to normal, we will let all members know so that we can get back to playing tennis. Any further information or updates will be released as they come to hand.

We wish all members, family and friends all the best during these challenging times. We encourage you to reach out for support if you or someone close is being impacted by this.
